Academic Colleges at UC Riverside

Based on the UCR college to which you were admitted, there are differences in the academic advising and services you will receive at Highlander Orientation for Transfers.

The University's departments and majors are structured into three colleges and one school. Your UCR admission letter will indicate your college.

  • The College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (Chass) and the School of Business Administration (SoBA) will be present at all Highlander Orientation for Transfers sessions. It is highly recommended that students enrolling in either college attend a Highlander Orientation for Transfers session.
  • The College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS) will not provide academic advising at any of the Highlander Orientation for Transfers sessions. Students enrolling in CNAS will receive academic advising and course registration information from their academic advisor via their UCR R’Mail. Should you have any questions, contact the CNAS Undergraduate Advising Center at (951) 827-7294 or cnassaao@ucr.edu. CNAS students are still encouraged to attend Highlander Orientation for Transfers to receive additional information about the college and UCR.
  • The Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) will not provide academic advising at any of the Highlander Orientation for Transfers sessions. Students enrolling in BCOE will receive academic advising and course registration information from their academic advisor via R’Mail. Should you have any questions, please contact the BCOE Undergraduate Student Affairs Office at (951) 827-ENGR (3647). BCOE students are still encouraged to attend Highlander Orientation for Transfers to receive additional information about the college and UCR.

Information for International Students

If your visa will allow it, we encourage International Students to attend Highlander Orientation for Transfers. Keep in mind that the International Student Orientation (organized by the International Student Resource Center) on September 18, 2015, is required. Information regarding International Student Orientation will be sent to the student's email address in May. For more information, visit the International Student Resource Center.

UCR Student Computer Expectation and Email Policy

As a new UCR student, you are expected to use your new UCR R'Mail account to access important University dates, deadlines and documents. These messages will start in the summer. Check your account regularly to stay up to date. If you are not sure how to access your R'Mail, go to your MyUCR account login and refer to the “Reminders” section. Included are instructions to get you started.
