Highlander Orientation for Families
Congratulations and Welcome!
UC Riverside and Highlander Orientaiton understands the importance of the role that families play in the success of the students. We also understand that families are not unquie to just parents, so whether you are a parent, guardian, grandparent, aunt, uncle, sibling, partner, spouse, or supporter, we welcome you to the Highlander Family and invite you to the Highlander Orientation Family Program.
Family Orientation
The Highlander Orientation Family Program is a 2-day comprehensive orientation designed to help family members become familiar with campus resources, policies and procedures, and adjustments that first-year students will face during their time at the University. Family members will also have the opportunity to meet, interact, and hear from faculty, campus administrators, staff, and student leaders who will be there to answer their questions and concerns in person.
Both student and family Orientation sessions are a two day program, beginning with check in between 8:30-9:00am on the first day and ending at 5:30pm on the second day.
Family and Students are separated throughout the duration of the program but there will be times during the day where you can reunite with your student.
The Spanish Language Family Orientation will be offered on July 20. Please note that check-in for the Spanish language Family Orientation will begin at 7:30 am.
The Highlander Orientation program includes a required overnight stay in our residence halls for students only. Students will be assigned a suite and roomates in the Pentland Residence Hall. While family members and guests cannot stay in the residence hall with their student, on campus lodging is available for families at the Glen Mor housing facility for a seperate fee.
