Highlander Student Orientation

Highlander Orientation is a rite of passage.

During this two-day mandatory orientation, you'll explore UCR's campus and traditions, talk with academic advisors, schedule classes, learn ways to get involved, meet other first-year students and more!

Attention International Students

Your visa status may prevent you from attending Highlander Orientation.

Do I need to attend Highlander Orientation?

  • I am an F-1/J-1 international student admitted to UCR and currently located outside of the United States. Do I need to attend Highlander Orientation?

No, Highlander Orientation is not mandatory for F-1/J-1 international students currently located outside of the United States. According to United States immigration regulations you may not enter the United States until 30 days before the start date on your I-20 or DS-2019, so it will not be possible for you to attend Highlander Orientation. For more information, please contact Undergraduate Admissions no later than July 1 at 951-827-3411 or internationalinfo@ucr.edu.

Your attendance is required at our Mandatory International Student Orientation event in September. Please be aware that International Student Orientation is a separate and mandatory event for all F-1 and J-1 visa holders. A detailed message about our Mandatory International Student Orientation Program will be sent to your UCR R'mail account in May. Learn more about Mandatory International Student Orientation. Contact International Affairs, International Students and Scholars at internationalstudents@ucr.edu or 951-827-4113.
